Capitaldo you need help growing your business?

Are you raising new capital to fund growth? Looking to buy a competitor?
Planning to buy‑out existing shareholders? We advise and deploy our own capital in entrepreneurial mid‑market firms to transform business.

why choose FirePower?

We either invest or advise, with the sophistication typically reserved for larger companies, and with the passion and dedication of a true and trusted fellow entrepreneur. When deploying our own capital, we are creative and quick to respond. We don’t just look to tick boxes. We can put between $1 to $40m+ to work in the form of Gap DebtTM or Private Credit.

When advising acquirers on their strategic initiatives, we provide access to our extensive networks, our deal technology, and bring to bear our deal experience to keep the transaction on track. No M&A team in the Canadian mid-market has access to so much of its own capital to put to work in its own clients; conversely, no other lender can claim to have the capabilities to advise its borrowers to the extent we do.

we’ll help you grow with gap debt

Promising Canadian companies often cannot access sufficient financing to truly transform their trajectory because:

  • Canadian banks do not move outside their well-define credit boxes that rely largely on trangible assets. They find it challenging to underwrite future cash flows.
  • Equity (from venture capital or private equity firms) is hard to come by, and if it’s available, that equity can prove to be incredibly expensive when the company goes on to realize exponential growth.
  • There is growing availability of alternatiev debt providers willing to take more risk at a reasonable cost, but availability remains limited and many private lenders choose to focus on specific niches.

Therefore, raising transformative financing is challenging for many promising companies. This gap is what our Gap DebtTM product aims to fill.

we’re a fresh and resourceful lender

Raising transformative financing can be challenging as well due to Canadian bank credit boxes, equity, and growing availability of alternative debt providers. This is why we created our Private Credit product. Private Credit can eventually lead to transformation such as, significant liquidity event, a major up-round, or a string of successful acquisitions. It can also set the stage for refinancing on more favourable terms.

help transitioning to new ventures

Our Private Equity team helps to ensure your legacy is in good hands. By design, we are actively investing in just a handful of niches; we’re continuously looking for platforms and bolt-on acquitisitions that complement our exisiting portfolio holdings.

We know the potential/perceived conflict between our M&A Advisory and Private Equity activities. Rest assured that the two teams operate independently and confidentially from one another, and do not overlap in terms of their sectors of activity.

BATL was born out of a personal passion, started as a backyard business. After some early steady growth and a successful Toronto commercial location, I was approached by FirePower CEO, Ilan Jacobson, with a proposal to partner so we could build something truly special. Once we joined forces, it quickly became clear that having Ilan as a partner, along with the support of the FirePower team, would give BATL a real advantage. In addition to capital, Firepower provided the strategic expertise and support we needed to take BATL to the next level. Since day one, Ilan Jacobson has been a stalwart supporter as we scaled the business across North America. We’re proud of the success we’ve achieved for BATL so far – it’s fueled by people that share the passion to make something great every day. Ilan Jacobson and the FirePower team have been part of that…a driving force to help us reach new heights. And we’re just getting started!

Since our launch in 2012, Sprout has become a leading workplace wellbeing platform, with a vision to become a global leader in technology-driven health and wellness solutions. Achieving our next phase of international growth required financing, and we considered several possible options, including FirePower’s private debt. The FirePower team dug in and worked to structure a non-dilutive, flexible debt offering that ultimately provided the best fit with our financing objectives.
